The rest of my life.......
"When they've tortured and scared you for twenty-odd years
It's then they expect you to pick a career
But you can't really function you're so full of fear" - John Lennon 'Working Class Hero'
"When I was in school, the teachers asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said I wanted to be happy. They said I didn't understand the assignment. I said they didn't understand life" -John Lennon
These past few weeks have been alot for me. I'm a junior in high school and I have next to no idea what I want to do after I graduate. I mean, I'm 17, and now I have to decide what I want to do for the rest of my life?????! My dream job is to be a musician, but I'm not that good, and music is a hard field to get into. Not to mention my parents think a career in music is a joke. I feel everything is being thrown at me right now. ACT, college, job, car, etc. Sometimes I feel it's just all too much. I become overwhelmed with fear and I really feel helpless. In a perfect world, I could move to England, get a cute little flat near Liverpool, own a big poodle, and get paid for my passion, music. But, I know I'll never be able to afford to move to England, I'll be lucky if I can spend a summer in Liverpool some year.
Some career options for me that I've been thinking about that are both practical and I would enjoy are:
Elementary school teacher
Dog groomer
Sound board/Recording studio tech
Historian
The Air Force/ Army
Well, I don't know, but i hope my life works out and 40-year-old me will be able to look back and thank 17-year-old me for choosing the career I do.
Save the Texas Prairie Chicken. Peace and Love ****

I feel the same way. haha. My plan is to do what I want to do. Sing and share the gospel. if anyone thinks that's a bad idea, (and I say this with love.) sucks for them. Do whatever God calls you to do. Never ever let excuses people use like "well in this economy..." or "that's a really hard field to get into..." keep you from doing what God calls you to do. if there's a plan He wants you to follow, He'll provide the means to do it.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't worry:) no one else knows what they're doing with their lives either. lol
